Routines can be great, especially for work and the gym.  But when it comes to your relationship, routines can quickly send it in to a yucky rut.  As SJ’s best dating service, we know that relationships tend to dry up if they’re not spiced up regularly.  Thankfully, it doesn’t take much to keep it fresh, just a little effort on your part.

A bit of romance here and there and soon enough your relationship will be back to the way it used to be.  So get ready as our dating coaches here at South Jersey Matchmakers reveals tips to spice up your relationship and get out of that boring rut.

1. Have a Picnic

Is there anything more romantic than an old fashioned picnic?  Absolutely not! Pack some lemonade, finger foods, baguettes, grapes, and your favorite blanket and settle in at your favorite outdoor spot.  You can also bring your iPod so you can play some soft tunes in the background.  Want to make it more romantic?  Go to a lake where you can rent a boat or head out right before the sunset so you can take in the beautiful view with your partner.  A romantic date like this is exactly what you need to break free of routine.

2. Send Text Messages

Texts are a simple way of letting your partner know you’re thinking about them.  In the beginning, when you first started dating your partner, you probably sent them many text messages throughout the day, right?  But now that they’re yours, you don’t do it that often.  Big mistake!  Don’t get lazy with the text messages.  If you want to spice things up, send them a text message here and there and let them know you’re thinking about them.  Simple, yet ultra-effective.

3. Send a Love Letter

As old fashioned as it might be, it is one of the best ways to spice up your relationship.  Nothing, and we mean nothing, can beat a handwritten love letter.  If you’re feeling creative, you can turn the letter into a collage and put in some images of when the two of you first started dating.  You can also add movie stubs and other memorabilia you have saved up from your time together.

4. Date Nights at Home

You might not have a lot of time for an elaborate date in the city, or maybe you’re running short on cash, but that doesn’t mean your love life has to suffer.  Here at South Jersey Matchmakers, we know there are ways to work around this to keep your relationship fresh and alive.  How?  Simple, have a romantic night at home instead.  When planning a date night at home, set the dinner table properly, light candles, and play romantic music in the background to really set the tone.

5. Spa Day at Home

You might not have the resources to go to a five star resort in town, but you can plan a spa day at home.  If you want to make it romantic, prepare strawberries and champagne, have the bubbles ready, and soft music in the background.

6. Do Something New Together

Exploring life together is what makes a relationship special.  If you want to spice up your relationship, nothing will work better than trying something new together.  Whether you drive to a nearby town or fly to an exotic destination, as long as you’re doing something new together, you’re bonding and strengthening your relationship.

See, we told you that spicing up your relationship wouldn’t take that much work.  Follow these six tips from our dating coaches here at South Jersey Matchmakers and watch your relationship take a turn for the better.
