New Jersey Matchmakers | Signs You’re Being Used
Don’t mistake steamy sex for real love. Sometimes, what seems to be mature and passionate is the complete opposite, so we want you to keep an eye for the following signs that you are being used.
1. This Person Wants to Hang Out with You at Weird Hours
Okay, so maybe the person you’re dating or starting a relationship with happens to work weird hours and is free at nighttime, but you get to wondering what the two of you can do together at 2 in the morning on a Tuesday night. You can’t go to the movies, all the nice restaurants are closed by now, and all your friends are at home in bed.
Unless you spend late nights cuddling at home or getting intimate in bed, there really isn’t much else to do. What’s more alarming is that this person is very active during the daytime yet you never seem to hear from them unless it’s for a quickie.
2. This Person Only Wants to Hang Out at a Hotel or Your House
Invite your new boyfriend or girlfriend out to eat, and they’ll tell you they can’t. Invite them to the movies, they still can’t. How about grabbing some coffee after work? Nope, not available. However, if you invite them to your place, they’ll be there at the drop of a hat.
You might be able to get a nice date or two when someone is using you for sex, but at the end of each date, they always want to go back to your place. You will start to notice this happening more and more often too, because at your house, they know they’ll get sex.
3. You Hear from Them Sporadically
In the tip above, our New Jersey dating experts mentioned that your dates mostly consisted of sex, which is what they’re after. When someone is only using you for sex, you’ll hear those famous words, “Let’s play it by ear.” Everything from phone calls, text messages, and invitations are sporadic. One week you’ll hear from them, the next you won’t. One day they’ll text message you, the next day they don’t, but as soon as they think you’re slipping away from them, all contact resumes again because they don’t want to lose the easy sex they’re getting from you.
4. Their Friends Don’t Even Know Who You Are
The first time you meet your new partner’s friends is a stage in every relationship, and an important one. However, if you cannot remember meeting any of their friends or if you did accidentally bump into them but were not introduced as a boyfriend or girlfriend, alarm bells should start ringing in your head. If your new partner can’t introduce you to them as their new partner, you need to start wondering why. And the answer is more likely because they’re with someone else or are only using you for sex.
5. No Time for Real Love, Only Sex
One of the most tell-tale signs you’re being used for sex is when you finish your love making session and your partner is already waving goodbye. There doesn’t seem to be any time for cuddling or pillow talk afterwards. Of course, sometimes it’s not as blatant as that, but your partner could be using lines like “I have an early presentation at work tomorrow? Is it okay if I head out?” Or, “I think it’s better if you go home to sleep. Can I call you a taxi?” If your partner is always coming up with reasons to excuse themselves or for you to leave right after the love making session, then you need to worry that they’re using you.
Signs You’re Being Used for Money
1. They Always Have a Sob Story that Only Money Can Fix
Your new partner’s grandmother, uncle, or cousin just lost their job and they need to help them with money, so they come to you for help. The following week they have a leak at their house, electrical problems, or a major problem with their car. And guess who they come to? You. They want you to help them solve all their problems.
2. They Have Expensive Taste
There is nothing wrong with having good taste, and some people are into expensive things, but it should start alarming you when your new partner only wants to go out to eat at the most expensive restaurants and wants you to pay the bill every time.
3. They’re Not Motivated to Earn Their Money
This person hasn’t had a job in months and doesn’t seem to have any plans to look for one. If it seems like you are the one feeding them, clothing them, and housing them, you can rest assured you’re being used.
Do you see any of these signs in your current relationship? If so, you might be being used for money or sex. If you want to date a partner who doesn’t use you for things, our professional matchmakers have relationship-minded singles who would love nothing more than to start a serious relationship with you.
